Electrification of Heating in Industry

Industrial heating is a major climate challenge. Heat accounts for over two-thirds of total energy demand in the global industrial sector, yet only a small portion of this demand is currently met by renewable energy sources; fossil fuels remain the dominant source. Decarbonizing the industrial sector and reducing dependence on imported fossil fuels will require a significant shift in heat production toward cleaner alternatives, particularly through electrification technologies powered by low- or zero-carbon electricity.
