Description:
We are offering an internship position for science and engineering graduate students or recent graduates. The intern will work directly with the Research Director at Global Efficiency Intelligence (GEI) to assist with both short-term and long-term research projects related to industrial decarbonization in heavy industries such as the steel industry.
Our research includes different aspects of analysis, technologies, and policies. The Intern will have the opportunity to work on one or more projects in collaboration with our staff as needed. Potential research topics include industrial decarbonization and steel industry in China. The intern will help with data and information collection, desktop research, techno-economic analysis, and research writing tasks. The specific area(s) of research will depend upon the intern's background and our ongoing needs.
The internships pay competitively with other regional engineering internships, and there is a potential for continued part-time work throughout the year.
Main Responsibilities:
· Conduct independent research and analysis on a given topic related to China, with supervision provided by GEI experts.
· Contribute to staff research and analysis on industrial decarbonization and steel industry in China.
· Develop and contribute to written material, including report chapters, blog posts, and policy briefs published on the GEI website.
· Support GEI team activities through an enthusiasm to learn and a willingness to engage in intellectual debate.
Qualifications:
. Must be a native Chinese speaker (DO NOT APPLY IF YOU ARE NOT].
· Must be a Master's or Ph.D. student (ideally a Ph.D.) at a university in the U.S. (DO NOT APPLY IF YOU ARE NOT A GRADUATE STUDENT IN THE U.S.]
· Desirable academic majors include Energy and Environmental Engineering, Science or Management, Industrial Ecology and Symbiosis, Environmental Engineering, Metallurgical Engineering, Industrial engineering, or any other major related to energy and environmental studies.
· Prior research experience related to industrial decarbonization or steel industry is a big plus.
· Top-notch English writing skill is a must.
· Ability to think critically and work independently.
· Willingness to learn new topics in our field of work.
Location: Remote work – you will work from your own location.
Status: Part-time (10-15 hr a week - flexible hours)
